How do you collapse a rear Brake caliper on a 94 Ford Mustang?

I am trying to change the Pads and Cannot collapse the PistonHow do you collapse a rear Brake caliper on a 94 Ford Mustang?REMOVAL



1. Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.

2. Remove brake hose bracket to shock unit bracket screw.

3. Remove retaining clip, then disconnect parking brake cable from lever.









4. Using open end wrench to hold slider pin in position, remove upper pinch bolt. Loosen, but do not lower, slider pin pinch bolt.

5. Carefully rotate caliper away from rotor, then remover inner and outer brake pads and anti-rattle springs from anchor plate.



INSTALLATION

1. Using rear caliper piston adjuster T87P-2588-A, or equivalent, rotate caliper piston clockwise until fully seated. Position one of two piston slots so it will engage nib on rear of brake pad.

2. Position inner and outer brake pads on anchor plate, then install anti-rattle springs.









3. Carefully rotate caliper assembly over brake rotor. Ensure brake pads and anti-rattle springs are properly positioned.

4. Apply suitable thread sealer and locking compound to pinch bolt threads. Install and tighten pinch bolts, while holding slider pin in position with suitable open end wrench.

5. Position parking brake cable to lever, then install retaining clip.

6. Position brake hose and bracket to shock unit bracket and install attaching bolt.

7. Install wheel and tire assembly, then lower vehicle.

8. Cycle brake pedal several times to position brake pads and caliper piston.How do you collapse a rear Brake caliper on a 94 Ford Mustang?you need a special tool to wind the piston in. This is because the handbrake adjusts on an internal screw inside the piston.How do you collapse a rear Brake caliper on a 94 Ford Mustang?i own a repair shop,and these turn in,they just sort of screw back in,this is because the emergency brake is back there also,advance had a tool that will turn it in but there easy to do you can use another tool just be care full and don't damage it good luck i hope this help,s,,,PS if you try and force it back you,ll ruin it,it turns back all the way,dont try and just push it back.
